This English 'Mêthode Champenoise' is a superb example of what all the press comment has been saying about English sparkling wine over the past year. Even Chirac and Berlesconi had to 'suffer' English bubbly during Britain's recent hosting of all things EU and it was almost amusing in that they couldn't really say what they thought of it without upsetting their own wine industry! It is the most representative of the Franck Bonville Grand Cru Champagnes and has finesse, freshness, unctuousness and elegance! This off dry Champagne is for those who like their Champagne a little sweeter than the usual very dry Brut Champagne style. It is a blend of the 2000 (20%), 2001 (30%) and 2002 (50%) harvests but has a small amount of residual sugar to justify its 'Demi-Sec' status. It is a Blanc de Blancs so is made from 100% Chardonnay and has a pale golden colour with an aroma of fresh croisant. On tasting it is rich and well matured and characterised by its mellowness and by the finesse of its Chardonnay. It is very similar to their Brut Selection so can also be served as an aperitif but also goes well with salty food or with pudding as an alternative to a desert wine. (one per case) more..
