Back Label:
DiGiogio Merlot 2000 Originally from the tiny village of Secinaro, Italy the DiGiogio family bought a patch of red dirt at Lucindale in the South East of Australia and acquainted themselves with the locals and the land. Some five decades on, the DiGiorgio's have an established family vineyard on the red soils of what is now known as the Limestone coast.
The quality is created in our passionately cared for family vineyard, which produces very low yields of flavoursome compact bunches of fruit. after 8 days on skins our Merlot was matured in French oak barriques for 16 months before further careful bottle cellaring. The wine shows a vibrant deep crimson red with purple hues and concentrated fruit notes of black cherry, ground spice and black currant with complex well integrated oak. a soft and lengthy palate of berry fruits and spice is complimented by over tone of leather and cedar and is supported by a fine tannin structure to create a wine of considerable finesse and style.
Bottled by S & R DiGiorgio & Sons Church Lane, Lucindale Sa 7272
