Description/Tasting Notes:
This rosê wine is a vibrant garnet red colour with a clarity promising bright fruit freshness. The aromas are of fresh fruit aromas with distinctive ripe cherry. On the palate it has a light vibrant fresh ripe cherry fruit flavours with tight crisp acid and long fruit flavour, bursting with fresh clean flavours with no lingering sweetness. Shottesbrooke Vineyards have long believed that light bodied dry reds, which can be served chilled, are ideal for enjoying in the Australian summer. They finished the wine dry so as not to produce a 'raspberry cordial' or 'lollypop' style of wine. This wine finishes clean and is ideal for alfresco dining, picnics or as a palate cleanser between courses. The British summers may not be as good as Australian ones but this wine is still great for lunchtime. Great with Asian dishes, fish or any Mediterranean style dining. Or just on its own for summer drinking. Serve Chilled. 2005 Sydney International Wine Competition Highly Commended Medal - Judged with Food (over 2,000 wines entered from around the world, 1600 entries judged at final judging).

Back Label:
McLaren Vale Free Run Merlot Merlette was a name coined during vintage to distinguish the 'Free Run' Merlot juice from our traditional style and the name stuck. We picked a few rows of Merlot ten days earlier than we normally would then crushed and chilled the grapes and left them on skins for 24 hours for colour extraction before 'running off' the juice. This 'Free Run' (with no pressings) was then cold settled and before fermenting and treated as though it were a white wine. This technique has produced a delightful wine with vibrant colour, powerful aroma and fruit flavour and crisp clean acid. Perfect for a palate cleanser and for al fresco dining.
